Raidho 57d02dec2b Addressed some criticism
getRecordingDevices internal function is now returns constant reference,
also re-enumerates devices every time it is called; this is a slow operation

Bart van Strien f76879c6b7 New audio playback API
Instead of having three states, stopped, paused and playing, now there's only
two states: paused and playing.

This means resume() is gone, as is isStopped(), and isPaused() has become
isPlaying(). stop() now pauses and rewinds, whereas pause() only pauses.
rewind() has been removed, and should either be replaced with stop() or
seek(0).

The same has been applied to the functions in the love.audio module, except they
get some extra magic:

- love.audio.pause() now returns a table/list of Source objects, which contains
only the sources it has just paused. This means you can then later restart
only them, instead of everything (as before).
- love.audio.play/pause/stop now have variants that take a list of Source
objects, and it starts or stops them all at the same time, this means calling
play(srcA, srcB) should mean srcA and srcB are much more (but possibly not
exactly) synchronised than they were with play(srcA); play(srcB).

Alex Szpakowski f1634bc6a8 The existence of the AL_EXT_MCFORMATS OpenAL extension is checked when creating 5.1 and 7.1 (6 and 8 channel) Sources. love.audio.newSource now errors if the channel count and bit-depth combination of the Source isn't supported. 2015-01-15 15:59:15 -04:00

Alex Szpakowski 808e533b02 Tweaked streaming Sources to use fewer OpenAL buffers (and increased the amount of decoded data per buffer to compensate), and removed some unnecessary #include statements. 2014-09-28 14:58:59 -03:00
Alex Szpakowski da7cd267ea Changed luax_pushtype to retain the pushed object itself, but only if the object isn't in the Lua state already.
Previously, calling e.g. love.graphics.getFont() 10,000 times would retain the object 10,000 times (and release it 10,000 times when the Font object was garbage-collected in the Lua state.) Now it will only retain it once and release it once.

Alex Szpakowski 014b9a46e5 Updated the Lua wrapper code for modules to account for cases where the module's instance is removed from memory completely and recreated during the program's lifetime. 2014-07-21 14:52:01 -03:00
Alex Szpakowski 724bdbd296 love.graphics.newImage, love.image.newImageData, etc. no longer leave Lua-owned FileData objects floating around waiting to be GC'd when called with filename arguments, resulting in less memory use on startup (resolves issue #890.)
Moved love.filesystem Lua wrapper code from src/modules/filesystem/physfs/ to src/modules/filesystem/.

Alex Szpakowski a49c2a88c1 Increased robustness of audio module initialization (see issue #646.) Also changed Source:play to return a boolean indicating success. 2014-01-29 05:24:47 -04:00

Alex Szpakowski 4d1846b745 Removed love.audio.newSource(source) (see issue #319) 2013-12-25 02:19:59 -04:00
Alex Szpakowski e6f2d4f1ac Added Source:clone() and love.audio.newSource(source): creates a new (stopped) Source which has all of the settable state of the original.
Static sources don’t duplicate their OpenAL data buffer when cloned (resolves issue #319). Cloned streaming sources also clone the original Decoder.

Bart van Strien 3d82eecc08 Apply the love-experiment moduleselect branch
You can now:
	- Enable and disable love's modules, implementations and libraries using configure switches
	- Use pkg-config for a couple of love's requirements
	- Build on OSX
	- Use newer versions of FreeType2
	- Get a slightly better error message using automagic

Alex Szpakowski ec9dec6b80 Replaced luax_newtype with luax_pushtype (and added luax_rawnewtype for the old functionality of luax_newtype.)
luax_pushtype keeps the object in a weak table and checks the table before creating a new userdata, so it re-uses the object's existing wrapper userdata if it can, whenever the object is pushed to Lua.

This fixes some subtle issues with love objects, where using them as keys in tables would not always work as expected (https://love2d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=39398&p=112388#p112415). It also decreases the amount of new Lua objects created, saving the garbage collector some work.

vrld 3b01da803e Merge pull request 2 by Bloutiouf: Sound attenuation by distanceSound
attenuation by distance.

Adds:
love.audio.[gs]etDistanceModel(model-identifier)
Source:[gs]etMinVolume(min-volume)
Source:[gs]etMaxVolume(max-volume)
Source:[gs]etDistance(reference, max)
Source:[gs]etRolloffFactor(rolloff)

Valid Distance models:
"none", "inverse", "inverse clamped", "linear", "linear clamped", "exponent",
"exponent clamped"

Suggestion:
Merge Source:setMinVolume, Source:setMinVolume and Source:setVolume. May be
confusing for lovers though.

May have broken platform/msvc2010/love.vcxproj.filters (had to be modified by
hand without really knowing what I am doing).
